Excerpts from Lock Stock
& Barrel
(New Testament):
Big Bore Brothers -
Wielded against dangerous game, the big bore is all that stands between the
frailty of the hunter and the ferocity of the creature. The gun does
not please itself, of course, and it is gladly carried by the user.
Now he can muster the confidence to face the man-eater. He can test
the waters of his own courage. He can face his adversary with
new-found boldness. Old fears gradually vanish. He matures into
someone who has learned how to encounter his enemy, knowing that the big
bore will not always be at his side.
Wolves in Sheep's Clothing -
Our Savior's warning wasn't so much about teachers
proclaiming false things as much as it was about false teachers making
believable claims.
Tricked to Death
While they put the truth in their pockets, He put the Truth on the cross.
Varsity Letter
Christ didn't die for second place ribbons.
Lanterns, Torches, and Weapons
Falsely accused, He is inhumanely crucified to death and sealed in a grave.
But now His accusers worry. The Lamb's blood has been spilt. He
is unstoppable.
Trapped at the Table
Snared in the trappings of their table, Israel struggles, even
today, with what to do with Jesus.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I'm a native Virginian from the Cumberland Mountain region but was
raised mostly in northern Ohio near Lake Erie. I became a Christian at
the age of eleven. As a young adult, I answered God’s call to vocational
lay ministry. I hold a bachelor's degree in Christian Education & Church
Music from Campbellsville University (KY); a master's degree in Recreation
from Indiana University; and non-degree studies from Midwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary (Kansas City, MO), and two community
colleges in Ohio. My work experiences include medical, factory, railroad, warehouse,
construction, camp ministry; and staff positions in local churches, and
state and national levels of the Southern Baptist Convention.
My wife, Jody, and I have been married for 27 years. Our
daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Dusty, live in Kentucky. Our son, Kyle,
is a student at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO. In
addition to my outdoor interests, I love to travel, having been in all the
lower 48 states, Canada, and Mexico.
In addition to my full
time work in Christian Education, Outreach, and Recreation, I have led or
spoken at numerous events in Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri,
Ohio, and South Dakota. Events included worship, outdoor gatherings,
men's groups, boys camps, fishing retreats, seminary classes, wild game
dinners, and other recreation events.
